Veterans Compensation

The current methods of determining a veteran’s compensation can be extremely lengthy, cumbersome and exhausting.
Personally I have experienced a wating period of 14 years to receive benefits only to be added to another waiting list of another year (so far) for backpay.
I would like to recommend streamlining the compensation process with an emphasis on speed, duty to assist and resonable doubt.
Finances have already been allocated in a yearly budget that could be in the hands of veterans, where it would be injected back into the economy.
Attempts have been made over the past decade to fast track claims but it appears these are usually rejected and moved from one stack to another. The general consenus I hear when talking to other veterans is that the VA would rather hold up progress until the veteran passes rather than pay. I find this disturbing and sad given the fact that veterans basically write a blank check, up to and including their lives, with the promise of care should they incur a service-related disability.
In a new administration with a priority on no more ‘forever wars’ the backlog should be easily and methodically resolved with a foward looking future toward preventative measures and reducing the budgetary needs for compensation cases.
Once the current backlog is resolved the budget could be reduced due to no longer having a demand and fewer combat related injuries.

I can say for certain after fighting for many years for VA disability that this would be nice. It was under trump that my husband and I were finally approved. Please read my proposal as well, it is directly related to this but the other side of that coin. I think you would agree with it. Thank you.
