Remove propaganda from all media outlets and Internet. For too long businesses, pharmaceutical companies, politicians, and our own government have been able to propagandize it own citizens and we need to put it into it. It create unnecessary divide in our country. There should be a penalty for information that is not truthful over any airways and online.

There was a law that required that news reporting had to be factual. It was changed during Obama’s time in office. That when the propaganda went crazy and it suddenly became ok for all the politicians to blatantly lie to everyone.

I believe it was 2009 when Obama changed a law allowing the media to use propoganda which is why there’s so much of it and no accountability. Trump needs to reverse this asap.

That would be easily done by undoing what Obama did to the Smit-mundt act. The original copy of the act prevented propaganda to be directed inward towards the 
, as it stands now its allowed. Thanks for nothing Obama

Remove pharma advertising from TV, radio and online. It’s propaganda driving unhealthy and uninformed decision making. Shift the media power away from Big Pharm.

Good point. Yet what do we do about hateful or harmful propaganda? Especially that which may affect our children? Where parental oversight or education is lacking, it would be more reassuring to be able to agree on sensible monitoring. Are we able?

I agree. Remove protections for propaganda and make journalists who do not have a source or use an “unnamed source” liable for the statements they make.

We all want fair news and not propaganda greatly slanted. The problem is how to police and enforce. I don’t want the government fining social media for disinformation because it would be up to the government to determine what is right and wrong… what is real vs fake. One idea for a policy would be for each “news” show to devote 1/2 of their time toward pro-conservative stories and 1/2 of their time toward pro-liberal stories. The government could then fine the “news” shows if they fail to do so and collect money from them. Another idea would be to mandate the propaganda news must also add a banner that says something like “this show is for entertainment only and is not unbiased objective or fair news”
Agreed, and we should hold people accountable for spreading Fake News including POTUS.

Change the law! The news media should be held accountable for things they say on TV and if they are then a lot of this will stop.

While I agree with the sentiment that our media is obviously biased, but am also leery of who will determine what “propaganda” and “truth” are. Could additional regulations in this area be used to promote censorship? Is there a way to do this without the risk of forming state-run media, or are we better off with free speech and the ability to select from various news sources? It seems we as individuals must rely more on developing our critical thinking skills rather than depend on the government to do this for us.
