Plea for help from a US citizen abroad

Covid Vaccine still forced on Green card applicants!

I am a US citizen living abroad, who votes regularly and files my taxes, and I’ve been trying to move back to the USA for almost two years. When I heard that the US had dropped its Covid vaccine requirement for non-US citizens visiting the country in May 2023, I thought it was the right time to apply for my husband’s green card. My husband is a UK citizen and we’ve been married for over twenty years.

Anyway, we applied for the green card and have been waiting ever since. Unfortunately, about a year into the wait, I found out that I was somewhat wrong about the USA dropping its Covid vaccine requirement for non-US citizens. Yes, they dropped it for non-US citizens visiting America on vacation or even those that are applying for non-settlement visas, for example: a student visa. However, for some reason, they decided not to drop it for non-US citizens filing for family green card visas/ settlement visas. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it now, but it’s true.

Now we are still waiting, but we are growing closer and closer to the point when my husband will have to go to a medical exam and the interview. Just some background: my husband has never taken any Covid vaccines, he is in his early forties and in good health. The Covid vaccine is no longer given routinely to people our age in the UK. Now there are other vaccines that are required for the green card medical appointment, which my husband would rather not take, but he’s willing to take them for our family’s sake because they’ve been around and tested for many decades. However, he is strongly opposed to taking the Covid vaccine.

I thought that America was a place of freedom, but it seems like an oppressive entity right now as it’s forcing people like my husband to take an injection against his will (basically forcing him or denying him the green card). There is no point in even suggesting we try to get an exemption because they are rarely honoured. It’s almost 2025 and my husband is being forced to take this vaccine he doesn’t need, plus it doesn’t actually stop transmission.

Anyway, I am putting this out now because I am trying to appeal for help from the incoming Trump administration to drop this requirement as soon as possible. This will not only benefit my husband, but so many green card applicants, who have been waiting, applying through the legal channels in their home countries.

After the election, I gained a little bit of hope because Trump appointed RFK Jr to an important role in his new administration. However, I don’t know if he is even aware of this requirement - as I imagine most US citizens are not.

Please share this in any way possible to help me reach the new government administration.

Especially since they have not been requiring vaccines at the border for the last 3 years. They are letting anyone in with whatever diseases they have. IT would be nice for the government to be consistent. Personally, no shots of any sort should be mandated. They can quarantine immigrants at all the borders for 30-90 days depending on where coming from to see what diseases will present and then make decisions from there.

I agree, but I just think we need to start with the most recent one, the Covid jab. Like you said, they should be consistent. Please help me spread the word. My husband’s medical will likely be in the next couple months or even sooner than that. I pray for radical change to take place. It’s so baffling to me that the US can be so illogical. Things like this are no longer an issue in the UK thankfully.

It is rather odd that it is a requirement for immigration, but not for non-immigration aka visas. My family and I are here on a non immigrant visa and have been for almost a decade. We could technically file for a GC under EB-NIW due to my husbands special abilities, but we are not vaccinated and therefor cannot be granted the GC. We hare however allowed to live here - and renew our visa endlessly without being vaccinated. It is rather odd.

Yes. The issue is that we don’t live in the US at present. I’m a US citizen trying to move home and bring my husband (we’ve been married over 20 years). In order to move to the US together, we had to go the green card route. So, the vaccination requirement is forced as a way of coercing him because without it we cannot move.
Also, his medical appointment is in one week. I hope and pray that they won’t force him, but it’s wishful thinking at this point.

I hope it works out for you guys. I am happy that we can continue to renew our visa, but having to do so every 18 month is very tedious and expansive. We will of course comply with the law, so all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Ruth, you need to talk him out of allowing them to inject him with that toxin. If you love him, protect him. Nobody is forcing him down on the table, ripping up his shirt sleeve, and injecting him against his will. This is a choice that you guys are making, no matter how unfair the current situation is. I totally agree with your policy proposal, yet I disagree with your statement that an injection is being forced on anyone. Sometimes in life, we have to step backward in order to hold our ground. This is one of those times. I wish the two of you the best of luck in this matter. Happy Holidays!

I understand what you are saying and I’ve printed off a medical study for him to bring and discuss with the doctor about adverse effects. However, we are in a tricky position here. Without getting too personal, we can’t stay here; we must move. Therefore, it feels like there is now no choice. I still hope the doctor will do tests for immunity perhaps (for various illnesses) and therefore will actually tailor to my husband in particular.
I appreciate your thoughts. I wish Biden had never brought in this ridiculous requirement.

I have been watching a video about the COVID Vaccine, it was authorized, to be used as a population control method, just like the Germans did in world war II towards the Jews, the top officials of the FDA, CDC, DOD as well others have been involved in this COVID Vaccine bioweapons used in our country, each person should all be arrested, held for trial, for mass murder of the American people, the COVID as well anything similar needs to be destroyed, anyone who trying to do any biological chemicals need to be arrested for attempting to commit mass murder, any member of DARPA which is the pentagon, needs to be held response for development of the NRA franken shots, this is a system that is been used on American people. There needs to be a law that NO biological war should be used on American’s or any where in the world, another reason we need to drop out of the World Health Organization immediately.
