Term Limits on Congress

This one is pretty simple and straight forward - we must impose term limits on members of Congress to stop the inaction that has gridlocked the progress of our country. So many members of our Congress treat their jobs as if they are retired (many should probably do so) and have taken up seats that could be filled with new members that bring new ideas to the table. Term limits would create a sense of urgency to make things happen for We The People. Setting a 4 term limit on all members of the House and a 2 term limit on members of the Senate would go a long way in bringing the power in this country back to its people.

The Constitution was written to protect the liberty of the people, in part, by limiting the power of Congress to promulgate legislation only within the short list of enumerated powers in Article 1 Section 8. Gridlock is often the result of Congress making unconstitutional bills that would do things over which We the People never gave the government power.

Since congressional term limits are not articulated in the Constitution, you would need to craft an amendment, which would then have to be passed by the requisite super-majority of states before it could be implemented. It’s a bit more complicated than you might imagine.

That is a very good point that I did not think of - thank you for sharing your insight!

The convention of states is working on that currently. We need 34 states in order for an amendment.

This MUST happen in order to move forward and try to remove the corruption from Washington. The longer these people stay in office, the more people have there are shoving money in their pockets to only serve their interests.
