Government assistance programs, like food stamps, have, for many people, turned into a long-term lifestyle rather than a temporary support system. I propose setting a cap on the number of children covered by the food stamp program, limiting support to three children, as a way to discourage reliance on government aid. Additionally, able-bodied recipients should be required to either actively search for a job or volunteer for a minimum of 20 hours per week to continue receiving benefits. These programs should serve as temporary assistance, not a permanent source of income from taxpayers. This approach would exclude seniors and individuals with disabilities, focusing instead on those capable of working and contributing to the community.
