Members of Congress salaries should be the same as the average salary in their districts. That way, if they want to make more money, the only way is to help their constituents make more money by making positive changes and policies that will help their district’s economy. (So this will basically incentivise Congress to actually do their jobs and do things that are in the best interest of their constituents).
They AND their immediate family also should legally not be allowed to have ANY money in anything like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.

I would even go as far to say as they shouldn’t even get that but they should live off what the lowest Americans need to live off of and their salary is the national poverty line. If you want to be in government bad enough it shouldn’t be about the money, it should be about making change so everyday Americans can live out the American dream not just the select few. If they had to struggle like the bottom percent, I guarantee we would see a change overnight.
