Congressional salaries should be tied to the median net income of the constituents within the district they represent, minus any government welfare, etc. Salaries updated annually in this regard.

I think term limits are more effective, each congress persons pay should be the same, if the pay isn’t good enough who would be willing to run, running an election campaign is tedious and hard work, not to mention living most of the year away from your families. I do however believe they shouldn’t be allowed to trade in the stock market.
My rationale is that only people truly looking to improve the conditions for their constituents would run. The ability to simply vote themselves pay raises is ridiculous. And my suggestion is in conjunction with term limits and trading restrictions.
