Protecting the People: Equal Fines for Big Pharma

Proposal to increase fines for any company who’s drug, or product that causes personal injury or death.

Too often we see companies be brought to court in a lawsuit due to their product, (pharmaceuticals for example) causing severe personal injury or death. Just to have the damages be a FRACTION of what they have earned from the product. I propose that we vastly increase the fines/damages amounts to EQUAL OR GREATER than the amount the company has earned from that specific product.
For example, if a company made 3 billion dollars on a drug that causes people to lose their lives, then the damages for the victims and fines is greater than or equal to the 3 billion dollars.

These companies budget for lawsuits because they know that the law will not support the victims and that the damages imposed will be no where near the amount they made.

The people need to be protected from these predatory corporations whose entire existence is driven by avarice.

The only people making money and they make big money is the LAWYERS. Until the justice system is reformed to limit the fees of attorneys. In big cases, like class action lawsuits especially, only the lawyers actually come out ahead. I would instead suggest we look at other forms of penalty, nothing compares to the head honcho’s being held personally responsible and serving jail time. Or breaking up the company and selling it off. You know something to get their attention.
