Food dyes, carcinogenic preservatives (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin), meat from diseased animals, euthanasia solution, mold toxins, and human food waste are all allowed to be used in animal feed, including livestock and pet feed. Animal food should not be made by candy companies or made with waste products for profit. Mars food owns many veterinary clinics, veterinary labs, and veterinary imaging companies, creating a monopoly that is not in the best interest of pets!
Any pet food brands that you trust? Or do you think making our own pet food is the way to go?
I prepare food for my dog and he gets compliments from the vet every time! He is so healthy! I fed him kibble when I first rescued him as a puppy because the rescue gets a kickback for pushing ‘designer kibble’ and did some research and it seems equivalent to us eating bread for every meal. All of the dogs in my neighborhood are overweight. It is so sad because that is so hard on their joints just like it would be for us. I would really love to know a more natural way to take care of my dog. I don’t trust all the vaccines he gets, the monthly chewables for worms and ticks, etc. He has a food allergy and I believe it started after a few rounds of those vaccines they get each year.
There are many smaller companies that use only human-grade ingredients. Some are raw and some are gently cooked. Look for ingredients that you can pronounce, nothing that sounds like a chemical additive. My naturally healthy pets website has lists and so does Truth About Pet Food.
Our pets are VERY over-vaccinated. I hope that RFK Jr looks at the over-vaccination of pets just like he is going to do for humans. They contribute to allergies and inflammation throughout the body. The flea, tick, and heartworm pesticides are killing thousands of pets and FDA turns a blind eye because they are ruled by big pharma. It’s time to take back control of our pets’ health! Natural options are available!
Dogs and cats are carnivores, they eat live or carrion animals products.
Thank you for proposing this, @JudyM4. A new blue heeler pup (14 weeks) just joined our family last week. We’ve been giving him the 4Health brand puppy kibble (chicken) and he’s doing great on it so far.
The breeder had him on Purina Puppy Chow.
That brand is about equal to Purina. Dog Food Advisor is not a reliable reporter on food quality. Our pets deserve human-grade food, not the leftover diseased animals unfit for human consumption that are rendered into meals. Diamond pet food does not use human-grade ingredients.
Dogs do best on scraps and organ meats, same as cats.
