Yup. “Federal regulations cost Americans more than $3 trillion a year — more than $20,000 per household, per the National Association of Manufacturers.” (NYPost)

Another form of cost-costing might be seen as avoiding having to pay for a massive cost more than a single time, especially with regards to massive sections of prefabricated border wall that have been stolen from the American People in the past few months. That said, here is a link to said proposal…

Absolutely NO pensions! Our founding fathers had real jobs besides serving in office. It’s called service for a reason. It was never meant to be a career!! Limit terms and give the bare minimum of benefits. This will detract the leaches who only have selfish motives for “serving”. We need those who genuinely care about and relate to The People of our Republic to be in office. Trump doesn’t need the the money. He really wants to make our country great again. He didn’t even take a salary in his first term and he actually ended up with less money than before he was in office. He’s not only been put through more than any past president, but I dare say more than anyone ever has. Still he came back because he really cares. Look at what he’s achieved in 4 days. He has more energy than I did at 20 in a manic state. Limit benefits and we will only have people who have morals running for office.

You’re right Falene, serving as an elected official wasn’t designed as a place to gain wealth, appeal to those who want to become more famous or leverage oneself into a private sector job with companies you used to monitor.

DOGE Should also be applied to state and county .
So much squandering of tax payer dollars, it’s disgusting.

I feel like medical costs have some low hanging fruit.

I stumbled on an X thread about the stability of medications, and learned many effective medications are thrown out just because they passed an arbitrary date assigned by the manufacturer, and never updated to avoid having to re-file the necessary certifications.

There’s a governmental organization that’s already done the legwork on updating the expiration date on many key medications. This could lower healthcare costs for both hospitals and consumers.

@Holly144 Helen Grose :
I agreed until we got to only rich kids get extracurricular activities.

With all due respect, I know America is financially hurting right now but we need to remember our future citizens, currently children, need to have as many opportunities as possible to turn out as decent people. I have heard so many times how someone was going through bad times in high school, sometimes being abused at home or going through their parents’ divorce, etc. and were tempted towards drugs or whatever but poured it all into football instead, or things to that nature. Sometimes having after school activities keeps kids out of gangs, or gives them something productive to do while they wait for their parents to get off work when they would otherwise be at loose ends getting into trouble… all of which also costs taxpayers money in police, theft, violence, and vandalism damages, underage drinking, drug addicts and injured people, you get the idea.

No, I think cutting after school programs is a false economy, we pay more in the long run in funding prisons and drug rehabs, etc., not to mention the human cost to our citizens.

BUT let’s have sane, reasonable, healthy and helpful afterschool activities like run of the mill sports, band, choir, things that might become a professional interest or lend to physical fitness. No clubs stemming from social programing please.

And the poorest kids need them the most because they have the least other options. Leave them to their own devices and they’ll get into trouble. Plus sometimes, for example, a person becomes a musician because they had access to instruments in band, because their parents never could have afforded an instrument for them. So many things.

To reduce costs locating illegals for removal

In the course of my conversation with a police officer on here
Local Law Enforcement Action about his frustration in being unable to do anything with illegals in custody, having to release them and ignore that they’re illegal, I was suggesting a grass roots movement of simply handing out business cards to fellow officers with the ICE contact details. That way whether local administration likes it or not in any given place, as private citizens once they’re off duty, they can give all the tips to ICE that they want.

No need to spend money trying to find people that the cops have located for you.

Easiest thing to do would be to simply change the policy and let the police hold illegals they find until ICE can come get them. Or even better let the police deliver them to ICE. They have people transport and proper holding facilities and illegals have committed a crime in coming here illegally so that sounds proper to me. That saves even more time, cost, and effort.

I think there are a bunch of good police officers out there who would be thrilled to help. In the course of their normal duties they’ve inadvertently done some of the legwork for ICE when illegals recommend themselves to police attention by committing further crimes.

Might speed up the process a bunch also.

If that gets blocked, if there’s some reason the police can’t turn people over, or report people directly, then back to the idea I was sharing with the police officer. I can’t see any way to block them giving tips to ICE once off duty. Promotion of the ICE hot line number to the police in some fashion and to the public at large would really help to take the burden of effort and cost of locating the illegals off of the government.

I had no clue it existed until that conversation spurred me to look for one on a whim so it seems under promoted to me.

You know, it might be tricky publicity wise to do this. If that’s an issue, one could just tell the idea to more police and ask them to pass the number around amongst themselves, doing grass roots as per the original suggestion.

To save money, let’s cut out the fraudulent religious tax exemption on the Satanic Temple/Church of Satan.

They are not a religion and they know it. They are not worshiping any God. They will vehemently tell us they are not even worshipping Satan (who isn’t a God in the first place even if they were) and that ‘it’s all satire’. They don’t believe in any supernatural force. Pushed into a corner they’ll start claiming to worship themselves. Narcissism is not a religion.

These people are using the public’s blind frothing for ‘freedom of religion’ to defraud the US Government of their rightful share of taxes while claiming grants that were meant to support religious organizations for what they themselves say is “satire”.

What they’ve got over there is a club for anti social agitators at best. No one’s saying they can’t have meetings but only that they ought not be doing so financed by the American Tax Payers, claiming religious exemptions and sheltering under freedom of worship when there’s no worshiping going on, they say themselves.

This is not a freedom of religion argument. Religion is about a method of honoring the supernatural. There are lots of ways to do that, but this isn’t one of them.

I like the idea but would prefer the politician’s salaries be tied to the mean salaries of the constituents in the districts they represent.

Now that Elon and the wrecking crew wiz kids have strolled through the halls of corruption, I don’t think the problem is with “overspending” – more like “under-spending” (ie: “spending under the table”) via USAID, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Pentagon). Now that the corrupt cat is out of the government bag, our new delimma might be: stopping the corrupt Congressional officials and leftist judges from derailing the fiscal investigations that lead to billions in savings. The link below is a proposal to do just that, and continue with Elon;s DOGE destruction of capital corruption…

Side Note: Ya’ll know…its a cryin’ shame when America has to send in Her techno-grandkids to find out what Her congressional grandparents did with Her own money. :cowboy_hat_face:

This is a small thing in comparison to the other topics listed above, but it has long struck me as insane and wasteful that we are growing food on one side of the country and shipping it to the other. Sometimes it makes sense, as when rice, for example, grows well in one region’s climate, but not elsewhere. Other times it’s bonkers. I grew up in a region known for its apples yet in the grocery store I was buying apples from several states away. That food got picked green and someone spent money on trucks and gas and cargo packaging to bring it hundreds of miles to sell us substandard artificially ripened food which is old and hasn’t had a chance to develop in flavor or nutrition. And as it’s old when it gets to its destination, there’s an increase in food waste.

The poor quality of our food is making people sick in the long run and that costs in less direct ways, like lack of productivity from the workforce.

I’m sure there’s reason to believe it’s all simply that the grocery chains bought job lots of our example of apples and maybe that’s it. But if it isn’t obvious to the world that we’ve long been being sabotaged into a death of a thousand cuts then I don’t know what to do with them.

I remember years ago watching some silly show where a couple men from tribes in Africa were brought as guests to Thanksgiving dinner at some average American family’s home. The lady of the house was cooking supper and asked one to open a can of yams. One of the native guys said to the other in their dialect “Don’t they know this food is dead?!” “Hush, it’s their way.” said his friend back to him. Except it didn’t used to be.

I think they know something we don’t anymore… that there’s life in the plants and animals beyond the calories and nutrients. And when it lays around a long time it becomes dead. And our health and vitality are not replenished the way we need it to be when we eat this old unripe place holder for real food.

I suspect it’s on purpose, myself.

We could save a lot on fuel if nothing else, if we sourced food for the stores locally for items that can be.

And before someone stomps on me saying we have that option if we care about it, and all that, that’s not the point. The government exists to protect us and coordinate for us because the average person can’t be an expert in everything. Alot of people are absorbed in other things, overwhelmed in information and unable to prioritize through the ocean of stuff constantly vying for their attention. No, Big Brother’s only excuse for existing is to watch out for us and manage things for our benefit (not their agendas or pocketbooks).

Could we stop spraying our food with chemicals while we’re at it please?

Another few billion $ more for Elon & DOGE (sitting in agency contract accounts and ripe for picking) right here…

In case anyone might like to do the grassroots movement I was suggesting, here’s a good image to help you along.

“Good” is debatable of course. Please consider letting law enforcement and the courts be discrete in enforcement and adjudication. Citizens like us depend on that— afterall the speed limit is the law, and we don’t expect to be pulled over for going over by 1 MPH.

@Sugarling : turning people in to authorities is not needed for the Administration to enforce the law— and if we start turning people in for any and all suspected crimes, it denegrates our society. BTW, i started this page for ideas on how Elon can save us money.

Your opinion is as good or better than mine, so, to add emphasis, I reference the Creator’s opinion:

“Do not take advantage of foreigners in your land; do not wrong them. They must be treated like any other citizen. Love them as yourself, for remember that you too were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus

How can we get a DOGE equivalent at the state level? PA and other corrupt blue states would suddenly turn red and effect future election outcomes if fraud and waste were uncovered. Keep America great!

I was adding that image to my proposal about the police being allowed to turn over the illegal invaders that end up in their custody by breaking more laws thereby saving ICE time and money looking for them. As I went on to suggest to the police officer referenced, if they won’t let the police turn over illegals to ICE, the officers could pass the ICE phone number among themselves and make all the tips they want once they are off duty and calling as private citizens. The idea included maybe making business cards with the phone number and I ran across this image which suits the need well.

As for the rest of that, our nation is now riddled with sleeper cells and foreign operatives and ALL the illegals have to go because they are hidden amongst them and there’s no way to tell one from the other. To deliberately confuse invaders with wandering strangers to misrepresent the words of God and guilt people about that, well you go do whatever you think you ought to do. God knows your intent and will repay you with justice.
