Ideas for Elon: How to cut $2 Trillion in federal expenses DOGE

Start a Social Security opt out program. By using social security, we are giving current wealth to those who collect social security. Those people payed the people before them etc. so we are always at a deficit. In order to do an opt out program, you would have to have a parent choose not to collect their social security even though they have payed into it. This would be a choice. If the parent opted out of getting their benefits, their children would have the option to leave social security. They would not pay in or receive benefit. Instead, by their parents choosing not to get payed social security fixes the deficit for that family.

Yup. Accountability is in part a function of attitude.

I just watched this:

Phones - seems simple - but savings are there!
Have a team call All phones that the government pays for - those lines not in use can be disconnected or used by departments that need them.

Implement the Jack Welch 10% rule for all government employees in all agencies. ““The vitality model of former chairman and CEO Jack Welch has been described as a “20-70-10” system. The “top 20” percent of the workforce is most productive, and 70% work adequately. The other 10% "bottom 10"are nonproducers and should be fired.””

Interesting. Who’s behind this video?

When the federal government sells a building, it’s “one-time revenue” in the current year— the entire sale amount.

Then maybe they need property management and to lease them for profit

I completely disagree with your proposal because it gives credence to “taxing an element on the periodic table” – which is really a ruse for taxing other people for consuming and producing material that just so happens to have the carbon molecule in it. Carbon is the basic building block of Life itself (which is probably why these tyrant technocrats targeted it in the first place - taxing Life, Itself).

The idea that this element is responsible for catastrophically changing our climate is utterly preposterous! As a scientist and a SME in Information Systems, I have a considerable understanding of scientific methodology, deductive and inductive logic practice, and vast available scientific information to hold my position that meaningful “Man-made Climate Change” is FALSE. My subsequent opinion is that this “foolish concept” is merely a political hoax invented by those who wish to extract wealth from, and exhibit control over the world population. The schemes of “carbon credits/carbon credit trading platforms/carbon sequestering and harvesting” should all be removed from the political arena, and should not be used as political or legislative tools to force consumption habit changes and blanket wealth confiscation on the American People.

Please don’t push tighter government controls and wealth confiscation on the American people based on unfounded, still-unproven past claims by paid off “scientists” who were afraid to loose their funding if they said anything contrary to those holding the political purse strings) and call it a “sound policy suggestion”. We are trying to get back to our roots, not build a technocratic dictatorial slave-dependent super-state. Please drop the Climate Change policy suggestions if you would, since this is antithetical to fundamental American principles.

OK, there is my two cents on the public proposal. Thanks. :face_with_monocle:

Review the required up charges. For example vehicles purchase come stock with vinyl. Government agencies will pay a premium to have the interior uncharged to cloth to avoid the appearance of money.

Yes, something to that. Like the fact there are USA-funded biolabs in Ukraine.

Here’s the latest summary from DOGE:

Federal government agencies are using, on average, just 12% of the space in their DC headquarters,” a Thursday post reads. “The Department of Agriculture, with space for more than 7,400 people, averaged 456 workers each day (6% occupancy). Why are American taxpayer dollars being spent to maintain empty buildings?”

Citing a report published in July 2024 by the Congressional Budget Office, the DOGE said the agency identified authorizations of appropriations that expired before the beginning of fiscal year 2024.

In FY2024, U.S. Congress provided $516 billion to programs whose authorizations previously expired under federal law. Nearly $320 billion of that $516 billion expired more a decade ago,” a Wednesday post on X states.

On Tuesday, the DOGE criticized the Pentagon for not being able to fully account for $824 billion and failing its seventh annual audit in a row.

The department on Monday posted a video of Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) outlining examples of wasteful spending of taxpayer money. According to Paul, one example is the all0cation of $100,000 to study if tequila or gin makes sunfish more aggressive, according to Paul.

According to the latest figures from the Treasury Department, most of the revenue that the U.S. government collects comes from contributions from individual taxpayers, small businesses, and corporations through taxes. The combined contribution of individual and corporate income taxes totals $181 billion. This represents 55 percent of total revenue in fiscal year 2025.

The data shows that the federal government largely depends on taxpayer money to run its agencies and programs.

However, according to a survey by GOBankingRates, more than half of Americans don’t believe their tax dollars are being spent effectively, compared to nearly 18 percent who do think their tax dollars are being spent the right way. Nearly 27 percent said they don’t know how their tax dollars are being spent, the poll shows.

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to head the DOGE.

According to Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy will be responsible for large-scale structural reform, focusing on dismantling government bureaucracy, slashing excess regulations, and restructuring federal agencies. The pair will lead a team to identify and weed out what they called massive waste and fraud in the annual $6.5 trillion of government spending, according to Trump.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Ga.) was chosen to lead the proposed DOGE House subcommittee and recently outlined a proposal to fire government employees.

Greene said employees in the private sector are normally fired if they fail to do their jobs whereas “bad employees” in the government are somehow protected. She said that her subcommittee would work to dismiss government career bureaucrats and provide transparency to Americans through public hearings.

“There are 438 federal government agencies and sub agencies,” Greene stated on X. “The federal government is the largest employer in the United States. The federal government is in debt at nearly $36 trillion dollars. And all of this is funded by American taxpayers. It’s truly shocking the American people haven’t torn down this government yet.”

YES. We need laws to STOP ANY campaign contributions from Foreign Countries. :stop_sign:

We need to put Spending Caps on Elections.

Kamala wasted a Billion Dollars in just months hiring Celebrities for Millions. Ridiculous.

If they really wanted her to be President they should have done it for free, or at bare minimum costs.
They only did it for the money. Limit the money. :moneybag:

All government employees’ income is current US median wage.

Interesting. You know something is off when the highest wage zip code in USA is in DC.

Stop unnecessary governments traveling. No reason a state representative needs to travel out of state to vote. Use zoom.
Lower the salaries of the of the state representatives to the median income of the state they represent. This will ensure they are in touch with the people they represent. Once they realize their decisions on wasteful spending will hurt their own wallet, they will cut back.
