We all have different priorities. We all have different ways we want our tax dollars spent. Some people think too much is directed the military, others not enough. Some think too much is given in entitlements, others not enough. Rather than giving our government the ability to fund things like shrimp running on treadmills, give some power to the people.
There is a baseline amount the government needs to operate and to be effective. Set that amount and everyone’s taxes (a portion) fund that account.
But what is the amount that is “extra”? Is it 10%? Whatever that number is, give people the option to direct their tax dollars to the things that matter to them. Maybe someone wants to direct all their money to cancer research, while someone else wants to direct it to building up our military.
Give some power to the people!
