Millions of people have come over our border in the last decade. We definitely need to look at that, however some people are here because they’re escaping something horrific in their own country or they are trying to provide a different life for their families. There are a percentage of people that are criminals, terrorists, the mentally ill, etc. without a doubt. However why can’t we work with the people who want to actually create a good life here? Nothing in life is black and white. Everyone has a story. If you come to this country and you commit a crime and/or you refuse to assimilate and be a part of society you should be sent back. I’m sorry, but you don’t belong here. For those who have come here for a better life and are willing to work for it, we need to work with those people. Those are the motivated, those are the people we want in this country. So we should legitimately sit down with them and help them apply for citizenship and work towards becoming a citizen legally. Honestly, it’s not their fault that they were able to come in the country like that, our border was open and most of these people felt welcome. They didn’t think they were committing a crime, even if they knew they were, it felt excused. This issue needs to be looked at under a broader light.
Because there are way too many. Watch these videos, from 14 years ago. Where are the actual numbers today?

And as the Presenter says in one of them, if you take the best and brightest (motivated) what does that do to the remaining people?
Bob makes a good point. The sheer numbers are unmanageable. But there are others. They came here ILLEGALLY. Seeking a job is not valid grounds for asylum or refugee status. If you immigration. want to work, get a Visa. I fully support managed LEGAL immigration, Second the people of this country should come first. Illegals get far better treatment than many of our vets, the disabled and the poor. Third they don’t deserve citizenship. I favor a path to citizenship; 5 yr. temporary residency; 5 yr. permanent residency; citizenship upon proof of ASSIMILATION. We have many necessary projects ahead in food and energy production, replenishing our forests, updating infrastructure, etc. that will require many hands and also have to pay for itself. However it all needs to be a process.
There are reasons why there is LEGAL immigration. People who are coming to this country should be vetted and their numbers limited so that resources are not exhausted and communities overwelmed. I sympathize with those who thought it was okay to enter the country illegally at the urging of the Biden administration, however, those who chose to enter the country legally should get in first, not those who chose to enter illegally.
Also, from a political angle, Democratic states like California are losing population and therefore losing electoral votes and representation in the US Congress. Democratis states want lots of illegals in their states because the US Census counts everyone whether they are US Citizens or not and their electoral votes and representation in the US Congress depends on it. That’s why California wants illegals and wants them to be able to vote. Its about POWER.
There are a lot of factors to weigh but they’re all over shadowed by the fact that we have sleeper cells in our country, and we have to get them OUT. It’s going to disrupt the lives of people who meant no harm, who may have had only the very best motivations, etc. and that can’t be allowed to matter because this is for the safety of our nation and our people. It’s regrettable and I’m sorry it has to be that way, but it does. Whoever invited, enabled, or even forced those people to come here illegally is to blame for the disruption that comes to them being sent back home.
We can’t protect people from the consequences of their actions even when they had good intentions, not when the cost is risking letting enemy combatants stay in our country.
I think every illegal needs to get sent home, from whatever time period they came here illegally. I believe we also need to re-vet people who’ve been given citizenship, especially lately.
These are extreme measures for these extreme times and extreme dangers.
