We need to make Abortion Illegal Federally because the 5th & 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution recognize we have a God-given Right to Life. The health of an unborn baby is the issue of why I placed this policy under the “Health” category.
There needs to be a National Abortion Ban on all stages of pregnancy. A baby that is murdered in the womb at X weeks is not less dead than one murdered at Y weeks. Geographically, a baby murdered in X state (i.e. Illinois) is not less valuable than one murdered in Y state (Indiana). This is why states should not be the ones to choose the policy.
I love our God. I strongly believe that abortion should be medically necessary. A family member recently had a molar pregnancy. The baby had a heartbeat for several months and held on, eventually succumbing in the womb. It was such a terrible time for us all. I believe there ARE medical reasons for termination of a pregnancy.
Andrew I have binge-researched this issue and have also created multiple factsheets to dispute these widespread myths.
Now unfortunately, NO POLITICIAN is going to publicly support a full abortion ban, and Trump has firmly said he will NOT pass any ban whatsoever. It’s off the table. Also unfortunately, the widespread lies against pro-life laws will not stop until democrats pass abortion until birth in every state.
Would you please take a look at my proposed position called “Establish a Right to Maternal & Fetal Healthcare and stabilize the abortion issue”? It’s basically calling for a federal exception law (for the mother’s life, rape, severe fetal abnormalities, nonviable pregnancy, etc.) to make these damaging (and false) headlines stop and offer small concessions for pro-lifers.
My idea does not ban abortion (because again Trump says he will veto all abortion bans) but it will promote a culture of life and take away the Democrats’ top wedge issue. And then maybe the next GOP president can make more restrictions, like DeSantis or Youngkin.
While I am a Christian myself, I must respectfully disagree. I believe that abortion should be restricted once a fetus has reached viability and can survive outside the womb. The video you shared, although featuring a medical professional, lacks scientific research to substantiate her claims. She also does not have any research performed by herself or her own teams to provide any conclusive data for her claims. In contrast, there are numerous studies demonstrating that abortion can, in certain cases, alleviate suffering for both the baby and the mother. Additionally, data shows that complications during pregnancy can lead to maternal deaths, highlighting the importance of access to safe medical care. As a fellow Christian, we also have to remember our constitutional rights which include the right for those not to practice or believe in a religion.
I also feel strongly that individuals should not be forced to carry the child of their rapist, nor should minors, especially those subjected to sexual abuse, be compelled to carry a pregnancy to term. While you are entitled to your opinion, we must remember that we live in a democracy, which requires compromise and mutual understanding. No one holds absolute truth, as we each arrive at our views based on personal experiences and beliefs. Fortunately, you will not find yourself in a position where you might need an abortion, and as a democratic leader, Trump has expressed that a federal ban would be contrary to democratic principles.
I completely agree. For a democracy to function effectively, it’s essential that we not only compromise but also strive to understand the perspectives of others. Just as we value our personal freedoms, we cannot impose rigid control over decisions that affect people’s lives in profound ways. By allowing individuals in the situations you mentioned to have access to abortion, we foster greater harmony between differing viewpoints. Without necessary compromise on issues like this, we would see even more division and support for candidates like Kamala Harris, who appeal to those advocating for such rights.
I don’t compromise on the Right to Life just because politicians are weak, beta males. “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness/Property” are in order of importance. I don’t give a damn about what weak, beta male politicians say is politically possible. THEY are the ones that need to change, not me, and your proposal that we should allow some murder because otherwise we will get nothing is negotiating from a place of weakness and is compromising on an issue that should not be compromised. We are not talking about tax rates! We are talking about HUMAN LIVES!!!
Oh, you are a Christian, then you are familiar that God considers life to be at conception because He said in Psalm 51:5, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” How can someone sin if they were not alive?
Abortion should be exactly how it has just been changed to i.e. done by each state. My personal opinion is illegal AFTER a reasonable time period around 15 weeks or so. Young children should not be forced to have children! Of course the rational exceptions too but should be able to be handled in this time period. Regardless of what YOUR beliefs are, you do not have the right to end the life of a baby even your own.
As I previously mentioned, everyone has the right to live according to their own values and moral compass. As an Orthodox Christian, I choose to live by principles of kindness and respect towards others. At the same time, I recognize that I live in a democratic society, where no one should be compelled to adopt the religious beliefs of others, just as I wouldn’t want to be forced into a belief system that contradicts my own. Extremism, whether from the left or the right, is something I do not support, and I believe that just as you wouldn’t want to adopt their views, I have no intention of imposing mine.
In America, we are fortunate to have the freedom to practice our religion and beliefs, even when they differ from others’. I have shared the fact that there are numerous studies that demonstrate the necessity of certain medical procedures, including abortions, for the safety of both mothers and children. Just as I would not wish to be forced to live under laws based on another religion, such as Islamic law, I don’t seek to impose my own beliefs on others. In a democracy, we vote on issues and find compromises so that we can live together in harmony, despite our differences. Your solution seems to be “I think I’m right because I dictate my religion is the right one and we all need to follow it despite our constitutional rights.”
Speaking as someone who is pro-life, I would point out that not only is this something Trump made clear he is not going to do as someone else stated, but it also just is not feasible. It is easy to say that we should have an abortion ban. However, the reality is that this would have to get past congress and the senate. That would require 50 votes. The reality is that such a proposition will only ever get 49 votes and that nobody will be willing to be that 50th person, not just because of how divisive this subject is but because plenty of people who claim to be Republican likely believe in exceptions.
As I believe the consensus here seems to be, if you want to get anywhere here you cannot just go for “abortion ban.” It’s better to work at feasible goals, such as creating limits and banning the extremes.
Andrew, respectfully, you sound very uneducated and an extremist, such as those that bring turmoil to this country. Your use of “beta” male while at the same time unable to comprehend what democracy is and clearly very emotional is quite amusing. Reform in this country is not created by emotional extremists, such as yourself, and hopefully stays that way. If you maybe popped your bubble and tried to learn how a democratic country works, I’m sure you’ll be able to expand your understanding. Remember that God also created science for a reason!
Also to add to your use of Psalm 51:5, it is from David explaining that all humans are sinful by nature not that as a fetus he was sitting in his mother’s womb committing sins and somehow that’s proof to your statements. Also, different bibles have different wording of the verse so, again, you need to educate yourself on that. Exodus 21, for example, suggests that a pregnant woman’s life is more valuable than the fetus’s. This text describes a scenario in which men who are fighting strike a pregnant woman and cause her to miscarry. A monetary fine is imposed if the woman suffers no other harm beyond the miscarriage. However, if the woman suffers additional harm, the perpetrator’s punishment is to suffer reciprocal harm, up to life for life.
Totally agree re banning abortion.
Abortion kills an innocent unborn baby.
In what other circumstance would we ever allow an innocent child to be deliberately killed?
Start with educating children in school about the miraculous, rapid development of babies in the womb.
At an appropriate age, teach them about the horrors of abortion. There is NO humane way to abort unborn babies… NONE.
NO elective abortion should ever stand in a court of law as everyone knows NO contraceptive is 100% effective so every time someone has consensual sex they are consenting to the risk of pregnancy.
Time to end abortion once and for all.
It has no place in civilised society.
