Abortion regulations should be at the discretion of the states, but in order to protect the health of a woman, there should be national regulations the states can not override. An abortion should be allowed given that the health of the woman is jeopardised, the woman was raped, the child is in critical condition, and/or it is before X weeks, but no later than X weeks. The states should then be able to decide following those guidelines, their specific laws they vote in place.
You’re basically arguing for a the government to re-establish some version of Roe v Wade and render irrelevant the ‘States Rights’ issue that resulted in Roe v Wade being overturned in the first place.
The SCOTUS’s ruling on abortion being a States right removed the Federal protection which sucks. If we are gonna start removing federal protection why not have the states make all Constitutional decisions if we can trust them to set the right limits.
I have proposed a comprehensive policy very similar to your idea. Would you please consider it?
FYI - the very first paragraph summarizes the whole idea, and the actual content of my proposal comes after a few disclaimer paragraphs/my MAHA letter.
