Along with term limits, all government officials should receive the same benifits as those paying their salaries.
So, if they vote to change the way their benifits are calculated, social security, veteran’s benifits, etc are changed accordingly. When they vote to implement healthcare reform, they are reforming the same benifits they will receive.
I addition, pay increases should not be voted on by the people receiving them. Can you imagine if this happened in business? It’s laughable. Just like social security, their pay should be tagged to inflation.
I’m sure this can be fleshed out better than I have done here. My point is, the employees should not revive anything better than their boss receive. No business would survive this way. That’s why the cost of government is out of control.
