Taxes and Social Security

I’m young so maybe I don’t understand. But taxes don’t make sense to me?

My tax bracket puts me in the 24 percentile.

The way I see it, I should be taxed 24%. So if I make $100k, you should get $24k. That’s how I read it on paper.

But instead I get taxed nearly 30% every check. And near 40% when I get a bunch of Overtime. Then at the end of the year I still owe money? I’ve already paid my fair share + some. And then I get asked to pay more. It doesn’t make sense. I think taxes are 100% mishandled.

  • My taxes pay for our military.
  • They then get taxed on our already taxed money.

The amount of money I pay in taxes could sit very nice in my account and be saved, but instead it goes to other countries and not even our citizens who are currently experiencing natural disasters. WE THE PEOPLE don’t even want to pay taxes anymore. I’m amazed there isn’t a national revolt to taxes. The government just casually mishandles billions of dollars, but come after us for a $600 cashapp payment to buy groceries.

We are the only country that gets taxed, we then pay taxes, and then we get told we didn’t pay enough taxes. Why do we even have agents doing tax work if they don’t calculate it for us. What do they even do? There’s 80k new irs employees that are armed, that seems crazy.

I’m just asking for a couple things.

  • Make military tax exempt. Don’t tax our troops when we’re the ones paying for them. My taxes pay for the military, then their paychecks get taxed?? So you get double the taxes… They’re making a sacrifice for us and upholding our country. Stop taxing them.

  • If you’re in the 22 percentile, you should only pay 22% and no more.
If you’re in 24 percentile, you should only pay 24% and no more.

  • Let EVERYONE opt out of Social Security. By the time I’m able to retire, there won’t be social security to pull from. You guys have even been transparent in saying this for decades. But you still take good chunks from my checks every month for social security. Let me opt out, I can manage my money better than the government.
