Stop Health Insurances from limiting care

Stop health insurance from limiting how long they will cover the bill for being under anesthesia for a surgery. Make them continue to cover the whole time needed. It’s going to either make surgeons rush and botch surgeries, people will be in bigger debt or won’t get the surgery they really need to live. They already take so much from us and a lot of people are in poor health because of insurance alone. They need to have better regulations.

My understanding is that public backlash has caused them to stop this. Yesterday or day before on fox news. At least they stopped for now…

Insurance companies don’t pay for anesthesia based on how long you’re out. It’s based on a set fee to the anesthesiologist. In many cases the anesthesiologist bills their own fee regardless of how much insurance coverage is available. If you’re getting elective surgery make sure you know how much the anesthesiologist will charge for their services.

They decided not to do this now because of the CEO that was killed. They were going to put a time limit on how long they will pay up to. I’m sure it’s just temporary and they will try to do this again once the dust settles

I believe a LOT of this can be tamed with the simple institution of “loser pays” policies for medical malpractice suits. Once people realize that they’ll have to pay their legal fees as well as those of the other party, they’ll only bring them forward when they’re actually serious accusations. This will dramatically reduce the money required by hospitals and doctors defending themselves from bogus law suits. That in turn will drastically reduce costs of health care, which in turn will reduce the restrictions with insurance as well as the prices of premiums, etc.
