President Trump has spoken of spending billions to remove what will likely be a fraction of illegal aliens. This is wasteful and foolish. Instead, most are here for jobs and to send money back to their nation (relatively few are here for asylum ). There is an easy way to solve this and stop most illegal aliens from coming here.
We need to phase in a strong e-verify with penalties for companies/ppl that seek to avoid it. Do this over 2-3 years and then go after what remains.
- for months 1-6, ALL NEW HIRES, along with owners, board members, executives, and directors. Require that the companies that sub-contract out to companies to require that those companies comply as well. If sub-contracting to an individual, then the company is responsible for checking.
- for months 7-12, the rest of management.
- for 13-18 or 13-24 months, all manufacturing, trades, construction, etc will happen here. IOW, the blue collar jobs that pay well.
- for 19-24 or 25-36 months, all Ag, service jobs.
During this time, several things need to happen.
The first is to push companies to automate. There are many jobs that can and should be automated. Since our taxation is kind of screwed up, I would offer up tax breaks to push this.
The second is to deal with illegal aliens that have assimilated into our society, either directly or indirectly. IA that were brought here and have had several years of our schools without violent crimes, should be given green cards. They can earn citizenship by honorable discharge from military OR VISTA.
The parents of the above, OR of American born kids, shall be granted ‘pink cards’. This allows them to stay, work jobs, pay taxes, BUT will not get social benefits, nor be allowed to have citizenship . If they are under age 50, they need to pass an English test within 5 years.
We had a number of IA (upwards of 5000) that were brought here by parents, served honorably, did not know seek citizenship (they were not told), but later deported upon minor issues. We need to allow them back and give them citizenship.
Finally, deal with asylum request by those seeking them especially those that have brought their families here.
Upon the full phasing-in of e-verify, then and only then, should national guards are used to find IAs that remain in the nation. This will be expensive. It is far better to push them out via lack of jobs first. Who will remain will likely be criminals. This makes it easy to round up and send off.
