We should not have to pay for a patent. Our taxes already fund the US Patent Office. There are a lot of people who have great ideas for different things that can’t afford to pay the fees. Without this added fee people could easily get patents for their inventions. And I bet some of them are awesome. Also this could be great for the inventor and the economy.
