National Voter ID Law & Voter Transparency

National Voter ID Law & Voter Transparency

I propose that the following 2 policy proposals, about Voter ID Laws and Voter Transparency, get merged:

Explanation & Justification

These should be merged because they go hand in hand. Only US Citizens should be voting in any Election at any level of Federal, State or Local Election. Also US Citizens should be able to verify their vote was recorded accurately and have recourse to address any errors the voters may find with their vote.

I actually agree with part two but not so sure about part one

Consider expanding to specify what vote records is public records (voter identity should always be protected).

New Mexico is really bad. This is the language for public records (new materials with 2023 General legislation (SB180). Note: the provisions are not specified in the entire Election Code, which can make judges legislate from the bench what may or not be disclosed.

In 2020, I was able to get the cast vote records for many counties. In 2022, more counties refused to provide. Then in 2023 legislation they added this ambiguous language to our Election Code laws.

Federal laws must protect we the people so we can effectively watch them, especially with voting records. Such voting records must includes cast vote records, chain of custody, canvass documents, forms reporting numbers of ballot received from USPS, drop boxes, dropped off directly from the Clerk’s office. These are useful for many reasons, studying demographics, look for unusual patterns, make sure the numbers match before certifying an election.

Totally agree that Voter ID law is needed. The process (through the voter registration process and/or photo ID requirement) must provide the voter be and prove U.S. citizenship.

Every one should have a photo id. In an election year, have locations set up for people to register to vote. If they dont have forms of id, use a thumb print. Give them an id.

On voting day, if they lost the id card, a thumb print can be used to verify identity.

No more mail in ballots. If a person is home bound, they can mail in a request to have someone visit to take paper vote. This paper is stored in locked metal box. If they want to vote, but dont have transportation, they need to mail in a request for a community van ride.

These requests should be mailed out for everyone if they need an extra help.

College students shouldn’t have to return home to vote. Provide a special ballot. They should have to provide extra papers to prove they want to vote for home town.
