Looking up different iterations of the terms Pharmaceutical, Advertising, Ads, Commercials, there are well over 20 of them now. I’m adding a number of them as an example, but I’m sure there are many more. Is there a way to group all of these or merge them all to clean up the Health category feed?
This is a more refined detailed contribution:
The Responsible Pharmaceutical Advertising Act of 2024
Objective:
To prohibit direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription drugs and medical devices across the United States in order to prioritize public health, ensure accurate medical information, and promote trust in healthcare providers. The policy seeks to limit the influence of pharmaceutical marketing on consumer health choices, reduce medication overuse, and encourage evidence-based decision-making in the healthcare system.

This is another (shorter) detailed contribution:
Background:
The law that allows pharmaceutical advertising on television in the United States is primarily governed by the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), along with regulations established by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Specifically, the FDA permits direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription drugs, a practice that became more prevalent after the FDA’s 1997 guidelines were issued. These guidelines allowed pharmaceutical companies to present both the benefits …
These are observation duplicates:
The promotion of pharmaceutical on TV shall be banned. No longer will negative and fear based advertising be allowed on the air waves for public distribution.
The United States is the only country that allows pharmaceutical companies to advertise on media sources. We need to ban it like everyone else!
I think we should prevent Pharmaceutical companies from advertising on Tv or online. We should take the same steps that we have taken on cigarette companies
Ban all pharmaceutical advertisements across all media platforms. Also ban big pharma from donation and sponsorship capabilities
ban all pharmaceutical from tv, as they are misleading. and they ad no value to the general health of americans
Ban direct to consumer advertising of pharmaceutical products. The budget for advertising is exponential and advertising directly to consumers is unethical. Only New Zealand allows this. Nearly $8 billion per year is spent in the US.
The US and New Zealand are the only countries in the world who allow pharmaceutical and drug companies to market directly to consumers.
I fully support non-traditional and non-medical treatments for many things, but I am aware that pharmaceutical drugs have a time and a place for consumers in this country. By limiting or banning DTC pharma marketing, we would be turning to doctors as the “experts” on drugs as opposed to patients coming into a doctor’s office and demanding drugs (SSRIs, GLP1, et…
The pharmaceutical companies are creating a nation of drug reliant hypochondriacs through the use of television commercials aimed at the general public. The purpose of the commercials is somewhat unclear. One may conclude the only real winners are the pharmaceutical companies, and the cable companies who are paid billions of dollars each year in commercial revenue. The pharmaceutical industry has become the acting grim reaper, and the savior, through the use of prescription drugs. Creating a hea…
Ban advertisement on TV, Radio, and print medium for any pharmaceutical products. Encourage intelligent, non marketing based discussions with medical providers to make decisions regarding medical treatment. Eliminate marketing influences when making medical decisions
Big pharma at it’s best. Stop advertising. If you are ill and need medical advice, talk to your doctor. If you are looking for new medical treatments, do your own research and bring those concerns forward to your healthcare provider.
Prohibit or put limits on advertising drugs to consumers. This is a pure push to get people to use more and pressure doctors into giving out more prescriptions. This is tightly regulated n many other countries and it should be here too. These drugs are too dangerous and need deep understanding my to be allowed a 30-second ad on TV
The blunt abuse of the media to advertise products people don’t or shouldn’t be taking is not allowed in most of the rest of the world
We should not be subject to their misleading information and pushing of products for profit
Advertisement of pharmacology/pharmaceuticals need-be forbidden across media-outlets outside of a doctors office or hospital. Doctors can recommend, not ad-agencies. Human-beings/potential-customers, do not need to be ‘sold’ ideas that they ‘need’ this or that ‘drug’ through a medium, television, which they rely on for truth and entertainment.

Ban the ability for pharmaceutical companies to advertise their drugs. These ads are regularly seen by underage Americans. Even in adults this can give false misguided information on a persons health and the choices they make. These ads are never based on actually helping people but instead based on increasing sales on high priced prescription drugs.

Pharmaceutical Advertisements should at a minimum have the same restrictions as Big Tobacco advertisements.
Please end all pharmaceutical advertising on the radio, television, and in print. The average consumer is not knowledgeable or properly informed to go to their physician and request a drug of their choice. Most physicians are not current on research either and will gladly prescribe whatever the patient requests as they derive financial incentives for doing so. The US is one of only two countries that allows direct to consumer advertising for pharmaceuticals the other being New Zealand. This pr…
Pharmaceuticals should be discussed between doctor and patient only, and not be promoted outside of the medical setting
