Seniors who have worked hard their entire lives are paying for Medicare coverage that provides significantly less benefit coverage than Medicaid. I propose considering eliminating all of the various “Parts” of Medicare, and offering only one type of Medicare that is at least equal to Medicaid coverage. It would eliminate the need for annual open enrollment saving a lot of government labor and senior confusion. Eliminating all of the private insurers hands in parts C & D would be a savings to the government as well as to seniors. For example, OTC benefits that are bloated and encouraged by private insurers and are charged to the government wouldn’t be necessary with the expanded coverage.
