Retired citizens collecting social security are mandated to pay 175.00 a month for Medicare coverage.
Citizens who collect 3000.00 a month pay 175.00. Citizens who collect 500.00 a month pay 175.00.
Many retired citizens are receiving less than 1000.00 a month.
Allow citizens the option to buy health care from a provider of their choosing.
Additionally, Medicare needs consolidated. Parts A, B, C all require fees, further reducing seniors monthly allocation.
I would suggest looking into how the Amish community provides health care for their people. Everyone who works pay a percentage of ‘their’ income. (10%). All health care costs are paid from this fund.
People who are 65 but not retired and have health insurance through their employer should not be required to enroll in Medicare. Unfortunately as it stands now, if you are in a small insurance group, (mostly small business), you are required to enroll in part A & B. This requires you to pay $175 per month even though you do not need this coverage. People in a large insurance group, (large businesses), are not required to enroll in part B. They still have to enroll in part A which may be unnecessary. This seems like an unnecessary use of tax dollars. Let the citizen decide what is best for their individual situation.
Those that receive less than $1000 per month should apply for Extra Help and the Medicare Savings Program on ssa.gov It will help them
