Many Misplaced Posts

Many users are placing policies and observations in the “Feedback” and “Collections” categories.

I’d suggest a few things:

  • Differentiate them from typical posts so that it’s clear that you’re not submitting in the policy section.
  • Validate posts before they’re submitted
    • Collections should contain at least 2 links to policies
    • Maybe have the user confirm that they want to post feedback before submitting a post in the feedback section?

I’m also not sure if posts get automatically approved for these sections. if they are checked manually, it would be good if the mods could spot-check each post to make sure 1) It’s applicable to the category, and 2) It’s not a duplicate of something they just recently posted (I had accidentally created half a dozen duplicates of a few posts a few weeks ago, and every post was approved)

Bump. The feedback, collection, and merge categories are overwhelmed with misplaced posts.

I second that, but also see a VERY major problem with incorrectly assigning the tag “detailed contribution” on observations. That really needs to be addressed.

Perhaps the backend programming for this Discourse interface itself can manage that categorization based on the actual character usage number and/or formatting rules as a condition using jQuery, or something, rather than rely on users self-reporting for that categorization, as far too many users are not using this tag, in particular, the right way, which is burying true detailed contributions.
