Developing small home neighborhoods will provide a homeownership option for 1st time buyers, downshifters, etc. These homes should be given a special zoning designation and should be for owner occupancy only. Renting/Leasing should be excluded.
These neighborhoods would use smaller lots than typical and would bolster finances in the local and overall economy.
States, municipalities, and developers will initially need to be incentivized to include “Small Home Neighborhoods” in their zoning and development plans.
