If Congress Fails to Pass a Budget, They're All Up For Immediate Reelection

The double dissolution system, used in Australia for years, is a game-changer. If their legislature fails to pass a budget, the entire legislative body is up for IMMEDIATE reelection.

Amazingly, this process has ensured that Australia’s budget gets done on time, year after year. Imagine if we adopted this in the United States: a swift, decisive method to ensure accountability. No more delays. If Congress can’t do its job to pass a timely budget, they should face immediate replacement, and let voters decide their fate!

Could work possibly, it would light a fire under their bums. However, it might cause members of congress to agree on extreme circumstances. Not to say they aren’t already (I mean the budget gets more insane every year), however the pressure of immediate reelection would likely cause many members to do whatever it takes to avoid reelection.

A balanced budget. We can’t keep running $2 trillion deficits every year.
