End Tribalism: But how? šŸ«±šŸæā€šŸ«²šŸ»

Re: Engaged Patriotism, Conscious citizens

I really do think that proportional representation is the key to ending tribalism, see my policy suggestion below

The trouble right now is, with a single winner, you end up with 2 opposing positions: candidate-A, and not-candidate-A

I think this should even be extended to the presidency - 3 presidents instead of one, with proportional representation

It would at a minimum reduce tribalism/partisanship in government

Thank you for the input!!
I am glad this isnā€™t too abstract - so maybe we can realize some concrete actions to take.
I will check your stuff out. :raised_hands:t2:

I am learning the ropes of this site so my formatting and stuff is wonky, but I definitely want to keep your idea integrated in this thread.

If you want to see an abortion position that WILL reduce the polarizing nature of the abortion debate, here it is. This will prevent pro-choicers from accusing pro-lifers of killing women, and will take away the Democrats and the pro-lifersā€™ top concerns/talking points about abortion, because this position would resolve most of those top concerns. Would everyone please read/consider it?

I think most Americans can and do feel patriotic for the same reasons, but the main difference between their choice of action is their source of information. Not everyone will simply choose a new source when confronted with conflict because their temperament guides their decision of who to place trust in.

Eliminating bias in media and restoring an equal playing field of information digitally are the most direct solutions towards a more civil discourse. But thatā€™s easier said than done.
