End Sales Taxes on Groceries

The prices of groceries have strangled our paychecks for quite some time. Most states charge around 6% - 9% for sales tax. This may sound minuscule, but when you buy $100 - $200 of groceries every 2-3 weeks, you’re spending anywhere from $200-$500 extra annually. If 50 million Americans lose $350 a year to sales taxes on groceries, we’re spending over $17 billion as a nation. This money would be best left in the hands of citizens.

Food is already very expensive right now. Oklahoma has enacted this legislation and it has proven to be very popular. Sales taxes should not be taken from a necessary expense!

This is a state by state issue. Some states don’t have sales tax at all, others, like NJ, already exempt “Grocery” items.

I think this is a states issue, Florida already doesn’t have sales tax on groceries

Ehh, I think if the argument for this is “food is already very expensive” then it sounds like there’s a deeper issue to address rather than simply cutting the tax in another area… inflation is the problem…
