End enrichment of elected officials

We must create disincentives for elected officials from enriching themselves in office AND after.

Make it illegal for elected officials (or government employees) to become a lobbyist, board member or employee of any organization that benefited from any relationship during their term.

This includes but isn’t limited to lobbying, campaign support, bills that favored said business, partnerships, etc.

Disclosing financial interests must preclude voting for any bill that favors competitive advantage of any ownership interest for the official.

Include the families and paramours as an end run around the regulations. Set a threshold. If you are worth multiple times what you earn, you have to explain it in more detail. You have to keep revealing it after office. If your extended family is worth more than makes sense, you have to explain that or optionally resign without benefits.

Yes these are great additions. Ban stock trading is a good start but far from the only way to capitalize on power. We need to make sure our elected officials are there to serve, not profit.
