End stock trading by public servants

Insider trading by elected officials is completely out of hand. There are dozens upon dozens of examples of insider trading occurring in only the last 5 years. The ability to use political power to manipulate decisions on regulations and being privy to insider information used to place trades for profit in the stock matter is too great and far too common. Stock ownership by elected officials during time in public service and a period of time following their leave of office must be outlawed.

Individuals elected to the House of Representatives or Senate are barred from owning securities. All securities must be sold before taking up elected position and the individual is barred from owning securities for an allotted amount of time following their exit from public office that is equal to their time served in public office.
