Election Day Federal Holiday

1st Tuesday in November to be “Election Day”. A federal holiday. Essential workers also get part of day off to vote. ID required. Paper ballots. No electronic counting. Each precinct counts own votes. No central counting. No drop boxes or early voting. Voter rolls updated every 2 years with Social Security information residency. Each community responsible for conducting and counting elections.

I mostly like this but I would add that there should be law enforcement standing by.
Allow “essential persons” to vote the day before or earlier/later that same day. I would allow military to vote absentee but otherwise no such thing. And each precinct to report their data to the press at the same time it does to the county/city/state or federal offices concerned. This would improve visibility and make changing numbers more difficult. Count total number of completed ballots at the end of the day and compare that with the numbers of people who voted. They should match and those numbers should also be given to the press.
