Congressional Sessions and Salaries

Congressional Sessions should be limited to 3 months out of each year, with no salary being paid until conclusion. The salary for each member should be no more than the median income for that members state that is represented. A balanced budget SHALL be completed within the allotted session with no continuing resolutions, or all congressional members forfeit their salary for that year. No member of congress SHALL receive a pension of any form for service in congress. All members of congress and their families SHALL utilize VA medical alongside the veterans that have served our country, during their tenure in office for their medical benefits package. All Congressional members shall utilize commercial travel to and from Washington, DC for session. Travel will be reimbursable only if sessional criteria has been met without forfeiture of pay. During the event that emergency sessions be needed outside of normal session, these SHALL be performed remotely, with a standard base hourly pay rate equivalent to that of an E6 in the United States Military.

All required bills can and should be passed in this amount of time, leaving less time to add additional lobbied pork. All bills should be single item bills passed on it’s own merit without any riding influence. Any member of Congress found to be using their position for personal gain SHALL be punished under the US Constitution.

I would only add that they may use private insurance and travel at their own expense. 3 - 4 months a year should be more than enough time to ensure they are only dealing with subject matter appropriate to the few contractual obligations they are required to fulfill (currently 19 items but we do need a few more to adjust to necessities of dealing with technology of modern life … hopefully leaving them little time to screw things up.
