Congressional salaries, retirements, and expense accounts

  1. ballot measure citizens decide whether they get a raise or not- including COLA, adjustments.
  2. the same citizens can choose via vote to LOWER salaries when congressional performance is sub standard.
  3. no member of congress shall receive more than 50% of their annual salary as a retirement / pension. Use military scale 2.5% per year of service up to 50% maximum.
  4. any member of Congress shall immediately forfeit their office, salary and pension upon conviction of a crime ( ANY CRIME) they are elected to represent us and must be held to the highest standard ! Replacement shall be elected by the citizens in their district via special election and not appointed by a governor.
  5. tie this into term limits as well somewhere between 8-12 years of TOTAL elected office in any combination with exception of president and vice president of max 20 years

Why should Congress get a pension? It’s not supposed to be a career. Allow them to have 5% matched contributions to TSP (govt’s 401K).
