I propose the following 9 policy proposals, about the Child Support System, to be merged:
#1
Current child support guidelines have serious logical design flaws that sometimes generate child support amounts that paradoxically “starve” rather than “feed” children. They often make it impossible for single parents to properly care for their children, forcing some parents into perpetual debt and incarceration. For examples:
Despite 50/50 shared parenting, the paying parent can end up with less disposable income than the recipient parent.
A father with two children with different mothers ca…

Child support is a contentious issue that often sparks heated debates. Advocates for abolishing child support argue that it can create an unfair financial burden on non-custodial parents, particularly those who may already be struggling to make ends meet. They believe that the system can sometimes perpetuate inequality and resentment between parents, rather than fostering a cooperative environment for raising children.
On the other hand, proponents of child support highlight its importance in e…

Proposal for Child Support System Reform
Title: “Ensuring Accountability, Transparency, and Fairness in Child Support Agencies”
Executive Summary:
The current child support system often perpetuates a cycle of punishment rather than encouragement. To address this, we propose reforms prioritizing transparency, flexibility, and accountability. Our goals:
Prevent abuse of power by child support agencies
Encourage payment compliance through incentives
Ensure transparency in child support payment…

Rethink all court child support policies & procedures. I know many Men in NJ & NY area who are broke and depressed b/c of the NJ/NY Family Court Policies and Procedures. I am assuming it is very similar in other states.
The calculation is done at the Paycheck Gross Level therefore, taking more and leaving the man with a lot less to survive. It is also calculated on what the man makes instead of the true needs of the child. The higher-than-should-be child support weekly withdrawal amount eventua…

As a father who has faced the harsh realities of the child support system in America, I believe it’s time we start a conversation about reform. The current laws are draconian, to say the least. If a father falls behind on payments, his license can be revoked, his wages garnished, and in some cases, he may even face jail time. This system, which was originally designed to protect children, often ends up punishing fathers in ways that destabilize their lives and ability to provide.
But what about…

No man will be obligated to pay child support for any child that is not confirmed by DNA testing to be his, except in cases of adopted children not related to either the mother or the father. Paternity fraud should not be supported by the government. Child support injustice is one of many legal disincentives to marriage and families. Treating men as ATM’s to pay the price for the misdeeds of dishonest women should not be tolerated. Men who do the right thing by starting a family or even step…

Child support payments should be a pre-taxed deduction from the payers employment earnings. The same way 401K is. And /or Child Support payments should be included in the income tax fillings as a deduction/exemption, the payer should have the child support payments considered as an expense and not included as gross income when applying for any type of housing, food, medical, assistance. The money is going to a separate household therefore it should be removed and not considered as part of the h…

Build and establish a federal fund for child support recipients which allows them to immediately begin receiving child support payments as needed. Upon successful DNA-based paternity testing, allow these parents to borrow (“draw”) against future payments at no interest rate. Have the payers pay this new federal fund directly, to include back pay for missed payments. Require that custodial access be granted for all potential recipients. Provide routine audits of expenditures and make them accessa…

When the noncustodial parent willingly dodges payment of their court ordered child and medical support, the punishment for such acts needs to be aggressively punished. This affects everyone in the family, clear down to the taxpayers who fund assistance programs. Revoking drivers licenses doesn’t help because they drive anyway. And doing that only enables them not to go to work. If they don’t care to pay their child support they don’t care if they’re caught driving illegally, which is commonly a …

Explanation & Justification
The Child Support system is in disrepair. These 9 submissions all offer suggestions of multiple different levels and angles for the same program. The merge will offer one place to discuss all ideas for total reform to the Child Support system in its entirety rather than individual points making each vote count more.
