I’m not exactly sure where to post this, but we need a change in our federal labor laws for the amount of hours worked during a week.
I currently work in a job where I’m working 12 hour shifts at 6 or 7 days a week. We shouldn’t be forced to work so many hours just to have a decent paying job.
Long hours like this, especially working overnights, has significant health risks including obesity, depression, higher risk of heart problems, other mental issue’s, and so much more. Family time is very limited and causes family members to be distant from eachother, especially when both parents work.
I suggest limiting the number of hours worked per day or the amount of days worked. This needs to be a federal law and not state to state. I live in a state where no breaks are required and they can make you work 24 hours straight if they wanted.
It has proven that the quality of life greatly decreases when you work and have no home life balance. We need balance in our lives between work, home, and social activities. We are killing ourselves working just to be miserable.
This, of course, can be optional if you want to work more or less hours, but employers shouldn’t be able to hold it against you if you choose to work less.
