Ban lobbying in government

Lobbyists use the leverage of large corporations to push for policies and laws to be passed. These policies and laws are not in the interests of the people, but are in the interest of large corporations. Lobbyists are often a part of backhanded deals that directly impact the public as a whole. Those who are in positions where they are meant to represent the public should not be allowed to enter into negotiations with those who are not elected and should not have a say in policy/law making. Our government is supposed to be “for the people, by the people”. Remove outside influence and return the power to the AMERICAN people.

Well spoken, 100% agree with this!

It is unrealistic to expect a complete ban on lobbying, as it is a form of free speech. However, Congress has become heavily influenced by lobbyists who often provide members with free trips, meals, and gifts to secure favorable treatment. A more practical approach would be to prohibit these perks for congressional members, which could help reduce the undue influence of lobbyists.
