Car insurance companies should not be allowed to raise premiums or drop a client due to a driver who had to make a claim because the other driver ‘s (who is liable & caused the accident) insurance company wont cover the costs in full for repairs, etc. Nor should they have the option to NOT pay in full if their client caused the accident. Nor should insurance companies be allowed to DROP their client due to “frequency of claims” and were NOT properly notified or informed of it, and then the client has to pay a “reinstatement fee” to their state because the tag office can’t verify insurance coverage AND THEN ARE NOT NOTIFIED THEIR TAG REGISTRATION IS NOT ACTIVE! It’s gotten way out of hand!!!
Car insurance is RIDICULOUS now days. I can hardly afford to pay my rent, but my car insurance is ridiculous! We have so many laws regarding being a licensed driver, but the fact that we abide by the laws, and have accidents sometimes, we shouldn’t suffer and pay a higher premium that is DOUBLED because someone else caused the accident and their insurance didn’t want to pay to cover the full cost of repairs. We, as licensed drivers, do the appropriate thing to make sure our vehicle is covered, but we get penalized if we have to make the claim with our insurance and they have to recover the money from the other drivers insurance company. Why should we be punished? Because we were licensed, fully covered by insurance, the other person caused the wreck, and we have to make the claim due to their insurance not covering the labor costs in the area we live? THEN, you find out 10 MONTHS LATER, your insurance company DROPS you due to “frequency of claims,” and then have to find another insurance that will cover you because you are deemed “high risk” (even though it was NOT your fault), and you pay $232 for the bare minimum state allowments in order to operate a vehicle? For a Toyota Camry?? no. It’s SO wrong! I know someone who has MULTIPLE tickets, a couple claims, and the same insurance that dropped me, hasn’t dropped them, nor raised their premium there should be a law on this that protects us as law abiding citizens who are legally licensed. It’s not FAIR. There is no cap or governing with these auto insurance companies. I pay for my vehicle in general (payment & insurance) monthly, what I pay in my rent that has also increased this year!
