For too long, the auto insurance industry has dictated what they will pay for repairs to a customer’s vehicle. Many insurance companies refuse to pay repair facilities for their skill and labor to return vehicles to their pre-loss performance, appearance, and safety. Pushbacks from insurance companies include correct parts, paint and material, diagnostic labor, OEM procedures, and labor rates.
Insurance premiums increase every year, while repair facilities see minor labor rate increases and even more pushbacks on proper repair procedures, materials used, and pay increases to keep the doors open, pay employees a respectable wage for their skill, and to also turn a profit, all while making sure the customer’s vehicles are returned in their proper condition!
I agree! I had to file a claim with my insurance bc the guy who rear ended me with his Tahoe (I drive a Camry), his insurance didn’t want to cover the full cost to repair my car (he did almost $7k in damage to the back of ny car- and went to jail for other reasons during this). I had to file the claim because I couldn’t afford more than my deductible (it would have cost me more to pay the difference if I agreed with his insurance). All in all, my insurance recovered the money from his insurance through subrogation. 10 months later, my insurance dropped me due to “frequency of claims.” I literally had 2 in a 2 year period. I got dropped. Now I am “high risk.” Both of those were NOT my fault and my insurance stated so in writing, but I got penalized and I am suffering the consequences for being a law abiding driver and having the proper stuff I needed in order to operate a vehicle. It’s insane how they can get away with this stuff.
