Whistleblower safety net

I propose a one year salary’s worth to the whistleblower who is forced to leave their job or fired for exposing government corruption or illegal activities. So they can protect their family and livelihood. We need more people to step up and I believe most don’t for fear of losing their jobs. This will allow them to have income while looking for another job after exposing government corruption. It is pretty simple. Have a fund that allows someone to be able to expose government corruption while finding another career.

This is a fantastic idea. Whistleblowers are dragged through unimaginable difficulty, and are often aided solely, on a personal level, by volunteer organizations with no funding. The key is, what would trigger that benefit? At what point would they be eligible? Maybe the benefit is something managed by the qui tam lawyer who brings the case to the federal prosecutor, and only after the prosecutor opens a file. First stage could be expenses generated while bringing the evidence before prosecutors, and as more evidence checks out move into living expenses. Might be difficult to pin funding the benefit on the accused. The fund could continually be populated by successfully tried cases.

You bring up some great points.

My thoughts are once a claim is filed under the US statute now for public waste or illegal activities then they are then immediately applied and approved tentatively for a years salary. If something adverse happens to them. As far as additional funding you could tie a monetary benefit to the savings and or bonus the employee more money if it is a large amount. But keep the award to a minimum of say 5 years of salary.

That way people don’t get rich but are benefited by doing good for human civilization and the United States.
