Since I as an employee pays into unemployment, I should be able to use as much as needed.
We need to change the system. Let the person decide how much to pay into Unemployment. If they choose say 10% a paycheck, and work somewhere for 10 years, they build a bank of money. If at the time of unemployment they decide to use it all, it’s their money.
If and when they retire, they can have that money paid to them. Not Taxed!
It is the people’s money after all.
I was recently let go from a job, the go it pay $450 a week. IT’S MY MONEY!!!
Unemployment insurance is for people who become unemployed through no fault of their own, and it is a TEMPORARY payment. This encourages the unemployed to find another job.
Unemployment is INSURANCE, not a bank account with money you accrue by sending it off to the government.
You can always open a savings account at a bank and deposit as much money in it every month as you want. Many payroll services offer the ability to direct your paycheck to multiple accounts, checking and saving.
Why bring the government into it when you can do it yourself?
