During the outbreak of COVID-19, essential workers kept the country running. A very large portion of those workers, including myself, were/are truck drivers.
Unfortunately, this caused many businesses to lock their doors and only allow medically screened employees access.
In doing so, many also refuse to allow truck drivers making deliveries or pickups at their businesses to access their restrooms.
Though COVID seems to be a thing of the past, most of these companies have retained their policies.
It’s very degrading to truck drivers, who call a 42”x80” space home for weeks or months at a time, to be forced to urinate into bottles or in public because of an “employees only restroom” sign is posted. Public urination is also illegal in all 50 states.
Some businesses even have the audacity to lock your tractor-trailer to their building for 6+ HOURS while not allowing you to use their restroom.
I believe this is a common sense policy that could very easily be bipartisan, yet it still is not law.
