Trucking security and safety

I would like to Discuss the Trucking industry and the things I have seen change over the last 30 years of my driving career. I am not talking about the e.l.d. Or hours of service. I’m talking about the safety of the country! The Truckers are the life blood of the nation. But in the last 15 years I have seen more and more foreign drivers and even some none licensed drivers out here. These people are moving are food products and other products that can harm Americans if tampered with. I am not saying all foreigners are bad. But you can see the difference between the good ones and bad. I would like to see some kind of vetting process on this issue.

Another thing I would love to see is the food we can get at a truck stop. It’s all changing to fast food and quick grab foods. I understand that a lot of Truck stops have got rid off the actual sit down restaurants.
I’m suggesting maybe some kind of subsidy to truck stops to keep a restaurant with healthy foods and a place to relax.

Third and last thing on this subject. With truck drivers being mandated by the government. We have to carry a medical card to prove we are capable to operate a vehicle. With the trash food we are served and the lifestyle a truck driver we cannot always afford or get to the doctor s. Insurance is expensive for owner operators/lease operators and they usually don’t cover much.

I think with us being mandated by the government and are licensing is controlled by the government we should get the same treatment as the government on benefits. Or at least some kind of break on insurance.
