Transportation

I think there needs to be some kind of federal regulations on the transportation industry. As truck driver we are more over regulated then almost all others. Yet when we try to do our jobs or join this industry we get the run around. Some issues that need to be looked into in my opinion. Broker, predatory lease agreements, shipper and recievers. As drivers we get told to be somewhere at a certain time we get there and then are left at our deliveries for hours with hardly no compensation for it, but if we show up in some cases even 5 minutes late, whether it be because a wreck or traffic which are things out of our control we are thrown at the back of the line and still are left for hours with no compensation a lot of time our clocks run out and we have to violate our clocks just to find somewhere to go and safely park.

Also when it comes to detention companies and broker give us little or hardly anything for our time spent there. A good example is you are stuck at a shipper or reciever for 9hours the company might get $500 for the delay, but only give the drive $125 of that money. Brokers are worse some broker will collect that detention and an owner operator has to fight to even get anything. These are the issues i think need to be looked into. Also the clock should be looked into. Canada has a 16 hour clock. With 14 hours of it as drive time. That would be extremely beneficial here in the US especially for coast to coast driver who a lot park on shoulders and off ramps because they run out of time due to issues I preciously mentioned.
