Deregulation of trucking industry

There needs to be an overhaul of regulations on the trucking industry. Everything that’s been regulated in the last 20 years has been under the name of safety but in reality it’s all been pushed by big trucking companies to push out the independent owner operators and small companies. Nothing they have done has actually made it safer. It’s actually been the opposite.
Another big issue is that us owner operators are making the same rates as back in the early 2000’s while the cost of owning and repairing trucks has skyrocketed due to these regulations on CARB compliance. It’s over $200/hr for labor at almost all shops that have the computers needed to work on these trucks.
Deregulation on emissions for trucks is an absolute necessity if we want to keep the small businesses alive in this industry.
