Term limits for Senators and Representatives

House or Senate: 12 years max.

House: 6 Terms max / Senate: 2 terms max / or combination on house and Senate i.e. 6 years in Senate and 6 years in House. 12 years you are out…

Tie their retirement to a regular government employee. Look at say a GS-14 at 12 years and that is their retirement. Health benefits just like a regular GS at retirement which is minimal.

When term limits were imposed on the President (the executive branch) and not on Congress (the legislative branch), the balance of power became skewed towards congress and was not what our forefathers intended. We absolutely need this to restore the balance of power.

2 years max! Not 10 years

My thought here is - 4-year terms, with half the Senate up for election every 2 years. Every other 2 years, the other half is voted on. Currently it’s 6 years, and 1/3 of congress is up every 2 years. With this model, 1 Senator from each state will be up every 2 years.
The number of terms one can serve per state would be two terms. So, after 8 years, you are term-limited in whatever state you are representing. To serve more, you’d have to move to another state, and reside there for at least 1/2 term (2 years) before going up for reelection.

do all you said FIRST—then see if term limits are necessary.

Definitely need term limits and age limits . It is ridiculous that you have guys that have been in Washington for 40+ years and have done nothing but line their pockets and make laws to help their investments and screw over American citizens. If a president can only serve 2 terms should be same for house and senate

Congress should not receive pay after they leave office!

I say 1 term for senators, 6 years, 3 terms for representatives, 6 years. It was never intended to be a career position. Also, no more war chest money for elected officials when they leave.

Presidents should be 6 years and with no limit of re-election but Senate and Congress should be 4 years with 2 terms maximum with:

No ability to EVER Lobby
Lobbying OUTLAWED Totally as it is Domestic Terrorism
All Stock and Portfolio FROZEN for 6 months BEFORE election they run in and 2 years AFTER they leave office!
No Campaign Donations of Reciprocity of ANY kind!
Candidates should have MINIMUM Requirements including 2 Semesters of
Constitutional Law with 3.2 GPA for Classes to Qualify
Eliminate “Campaigns” to Elect and HIRE Administrators to PERFORM the Will of We the People!
$5,000 per month MAXIMUM for ANY Elected Official in ANY Department
ALL Expenses and Performance On Public Display with Block Chain Smart Contracts that are Open Source 24/7/365

Voting limited to Property & Business Owners for Local Voting but Presidential, Sheriff and National Issues - open to All “LAWFUL” Americans!

Totally agree. And 6 yrs max in either the house or the senate. Sick to death of career politicians

Well i think good leadership, when it occurs, should be allowed to stay in office for a descemt amount of time. I personally think 15 or even 18 years is fine. Expertise is a must and i think espeically in the senate. The house i feel should have stricter and shorter terms, such as maybe max 6-8 years. And then they can run as senators in order to pursue a larger career. But making the house more a body of representation then of experts i do believe is a must.

Yes. There needs to be term limits. Most of these politicians on both sides start out by wanting to make the lives of Americans better but after several years they get very comfortable and realize that they will win every election because people recognize their name. They then forget why they were elected in the first place.

Not term limits. All that will do is establish a time in which to perform their shenanigans. Better to have a way people can somehow hold them accountable with a fine withheld from their pay or something. Ideal would be a way to recall members of Congress by the people or fire them at will except they would never vote to pass a constitutional amendment that might be necessary. Since Congress and federal government effects the entire nation all states should be able to effect the punishment on any member or federal actor.

I agree with one small modification, the limit should be 12 years, not 10. The reason is that 2 terms in the Senate equals 12 years. So, it would be six terms in the House, 2 terms in the Senate, or any combination. For instance, you could have a 3 term member of the House that serves a single term in the Senate. The limit would be the combination of years served in Congress (both Chambers).

I say 4 years…

If we want term limits for the congress then I think 12 yrs. Would do the trick. That way the Senators will get 2 terms max and congressman/woman will get 6 terms due to they are elected every 2 years.

have you ever read the constitution in full? there is a REASON there is not term limits for congressmen. Foe president—we dont want a dictator!!! INSIST the election fraud ENDS. then the ballot box will determine the will of the people rather than “special interests.”. term limits just SOUND good—no more and no less. People then can sit back on their laurels thinking they have solved the problem—when they find out they only exponentially INCREASED the problem—it is too late. please name me one amendment that benefited the people. Trump is wrong on this and I love him. Reearch “lame ducks” and see the danger of term limits for congress. Please.

I agree. they should have social security ONLY. and their own private savings.

president with no limit? we would still have bill clinton with your reasoning. the ballot box ONLY should be term limits for congressmen. the first job for that to happen is to have quantum blockchain voting—unhackable! because it is unhackable! until the ballot box is safe—term limits are a road to ruin. our founders KNEW this. read the constitution and the federalist papers.

Term limits were needed decades ago. This is a must have.
