I’d recommend introducing a bill to redirect agricultural subsidies to encourage citizens to grow food on their residential properties. At the very least, we could enable food stamps to be used for buying gardening supplies. This will empower citizens to be self-reliant and take a huge burden off our already overtaxed supply chains. It will also radically reduce the amount of pesticides consumed by citizens and sprayed on US topsoil. I believe that encouraging citizens in any way to grow food will radically decrease chronic disease. The health benefits of exposure to sunlight and skin contact with soil have been proven in various studies. This, a long with the reduction of chemicals used to grow the food, will provide citizens massive health benefits.
I fully support the idea of providing subsidies for Victory Gardens, as it encourages self-sufficiency and food security. However, an improvement could be offering targeted resources and education alongside the subsidies, such as workshops on sustainable gardening practices and seed distribution programs. This would not only incentivize more people to grow their own food but also ensure that their gardens are productive and environmentally responsible. Empowering people with knowledge and tools can make the subsidy program even more effective and long-lasting.
Yes, education is fundamental. Gardening and farming should be offered at every public school. Free classes should be provided to adults. I see this as crucial in this time.
Victory Gardening should not be limited by the size of your lot. If you have a small yard, you should still be allowed to garden it to help your family’s food resources.
