Freedom of information act is supposed to be for the citizens to check up on their government. For far too long we have been ignored when filing foia requests only to be stonewalled by “we can’t give you information because it’s still an open investigation” or “we’re exempt from giving you this information” on top of RIDICULOUS fees that are associated with requests. THE GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR US.
AND the use of redactions! Also, no more closed door meetings! Everything needs to be transparent. If there is an exception to the rule, we should have a say in it’s approval.
