Significantly reduce plastic use in food storage

The level of plastics use in many categories of products in the US is disgustingly high, but especially concerning in food storage containers and wrappers. The effects of microplastics are not totally known due to lack of research, but they have been shown to be major endocrine disruptors, leading to nearly unavoidable hormonal imbalances due to constant exposure. We need to replace all this plastic use with a better material, such as glass, because this will reduce plastic waste immensely, decrease the level of microplastics wrecking hormonal havoc on all of our bodies, and create the potential for a container buyback program similar to many European countries approach to plastic. Not sure if this should go in the Food or Health category because this policy would have effects in both.
