Companies should be restricted from owning single family homes. This doesn’t have to be a total ban nor should it restrict their ability to develop homes, but, for example, in Las Vegas, NV, companies own approximately 60% of homes in the valley. Companies have significantly more purchasing power than middle class households and this has contributed to pricing the average household out of purchasing homes and land that would appreciate in value over time. This is an issue that with the right policy, could make home ownership attainable for the working and middle class again.
